18 today
Yessh, I'm pretty old, huh? 18 months. A golden age of my childhood. I thought that I'd use this opportunity to record my language development for posterity (read: brag). Words that I use: cat, dada, mama (since very recently, didn't see the reason to name her before), bye-bye, hello, star (pronounced 'tar'), guitar (pronounced 'tar'), yum (for food), daj ('give' in Polish), chcesz ('you want' in Polish), nie ma ('there isn't any' in Polish - very useful), shoe (my favourite thing, sigh, call me Imelda), car, NO (also very useful), 'kay (opposite to 'no'), bubble, ball, apple, nana (meaning banana, but easier to say), trzy ('3' - in Polish), dwa ('2' in Polish - it comes before '3', but I don't really know what it means), ta (thank you), owl (I've got a great book about them), fish (pronounced 'ish'), hat (pronounced 'cat'), clock (pronounced 'cock'), boo-boo (meaning injury), oh-oh (meaning accident, mummy gets really worried when she hears that one), bird (pronounced 'boood' or 'boodah'), sock, dziadzio (grandpa in Polish), Kasia (that's me), bot-bot (that is bottle in parent-speak), book, moon, Wiggles (looove them), phone (pronounced 'hello') and, well, that's about it. There are also some things that I can get parents to understand by using the noises that they make or by sign language (horse, cow, monkey, cat, dog, owl, airplane, car, elephant, bottom (heh heh), flower, handwashing and toothwashing). So, aren't I brilliant? Catherine
