Forget the crib - I'm sleeping with Mummy-Daddy
I've got my parents well-trained now. Every night at around 1am (I know this because Daddy mumbles this at the time) I wake up and cry to be lifted out, which Daddy does. Then I sleep between Mummy-Daddy: bliss. I spend the night cuddling and re-cuddling and switching to another way of being close to Mummy: her hand under my cheek; her arm around me; me cuddled to her side; and putting my arm under her kneck. Sometimes Dad features, but really, I just want Mummy at night. In the mornings, though, I want to be with Daddy. After I've given Mummy her glasses (she usually protests under a mound of bedclothes), I'm off to be with Daddy. Lately I've been waking up a little later and Dad is in the shower. Thats a scary place. Once they put me in there and the water came down into my eyes. YUCK! How come Daddy goes there? Doesn't the water hurt his eyes? Mummy has holiday plans for me! I'm going with Mummy and Dziadzio [Grand-Dad] to a place called Queensland. Daddy can't come because he has to work. I hope it's fun. When we get back, Jackson, my hero next door, will be on holidays from school. So we should have lots of fun going on trips and stuff!

Yes, kiddo. You have succesfully completed you sleep training. You've got us where you want us (on both sides of you...).
The books talk about something different, I think, but it seems to work for us.
