Shadows are weird and creepy
I've just re-discovered shadows, and now that I can point at them and name them, they seem to be everywhere. I'm a little dubious about them (a big word for a girl under the age of two, "dubious", but Daddy's a writer, so what can I say?). You can't touch shadows, but they move around. They can follow your every move. Sometimes they're there, sometimes they're not. Sometimes they're hiding and you can only just see them under your feet. But you can't make them leave by saying "Bye-bye shadow" as I found out. Daddy made a shadow puppet of a dog last night and the shadow-dog growled and tried to bite me. I got a fright and jumped back a long way (the BIGGEST jump I ever made). Daddy said that it was OK - that a shadow couldn't hurt me, but I'm not so sure ... Daddy went on trying to convince me that the shadows are 'friendly'. He pointed out that even The Wiggles have shadows, and showed them to me on the video. Hmmm. I hadn't noticed them before on The Wiggles (gulp). He also told me that my shadow is MY shadow! Just like I have hands, neyes and nose. I even dreamed about shadows and mumbled about them when Daddy resettled me sometime after I fell asleep at bedtime. But, hey! I've got this sleep thing licked, at least. I don't need Mummy-Daddy so much at bedtime now. Now Daddy just gives me a bot-bot in the cot while singing a lullabye, says goodnight saying he'll get Mummy. Then Mummy comes in from her study and kisses me goodnight and tucks me in. I even sleep through til 7. So no more complaints, parents! ~Kasia.
